I had the pleasure of meeting another "Coastie Mom" and we talked for hours! I thought the family grams were customary for cutters underway...Boy!, I hadn't realized how fortunate and blessed the Munro family really is. Capt. Lloyd I'm truly grateful!I was proud as a peacock to be a Munro coastie parent! You're awesome! Dana, It's been amazing to have this connection with our loved ones. I'm now labeled as an "internet junkie" and proud of it! thanks for your marvelous descriptions. A couple of days ago, I thought I would either see or hear about my son in your DC PQS blog b/c "damage control","qualifying" & "nozzelman" has been most of his dialogue, you've helped to set me straight. Today, you've put a sparkle in my eye by posting a picture my son's smile! Thanks for the pleasant surprise. :]

Like all of the other comments that have been made, THANK YOU very much for telling us what all happens on the ship. My husband isn't very good at telling me what goes on while the boat is underway, so it is nice to read what all is happening.

My kids (there are 4 here at home and 2 in college) are pleasantly surprised to see that you have gotten to "play/work" with their dad, MKC Will Ray. The 3 younger ones were very happy to see daddy in some of the pictures that you have posted.

Thank you once again for the great updates. I will miss your postings once you depart the ship.

Take care - Joanne Ray and family

Thank you both so much. It has been an amazing adventure. And it's not over yet.

Also, for those of you looking for the next blog, I've been trying to post it for twelve hours, and there is some glitch in the website write program that is resisting. I have emailed an SOS to my webmaster, but I don't know if he's up to Coastie speed at SARs. Stand by.

From an earlier blog I know your time on the Munro must be drawing to a close. Before you abandon ship, I wanted to thank you for capturing your experiences for all of us to enjoy.

I cannot help to think that your journey on the Munro has been a win-win for everybody! The Coast Guard gets some great PR. Family and friends receive special insight every morning when they arise to the day to day routine of their love ones. Perhaps even catching a glimpse of them in one of the many great pictures you have uploaded. And what an adventure for you!

Besides a few bumps and bruises (damn Darwin) you must have had a lifetime of experiences. Whether a future character in forthcoming book is driving a fast boat, taking a sea shower, firing a 50-caliber gun, or jumping off the main deck to blue ocean on swim call, you will have to smile as you type and say – been there - done that – got the T-Shirt… and the shirt says - USCGC Munro WHEC 724!

I sure hope that you get to hear the words “Now, set go fast red! one more time before you depart with a positive contact on the horizon.

TomB

PS If you stop by 2-304-2-Q say hello to Emmett

Dana,
You've provided us (family and many, many friends) one heck of a ride. Simply amazing! what all the young men & women of the USCG and all other branches of the military give us everyday, so that we can conitue to live the "American Way". You and that entire amazing crew are in our prayers everyday!
