library

In a comment posted to my Facebook page on August 5th, Debra Eisert writes, “As a former collection development librarian (i.e., I bought the fiction for a county library. cool job, huh?) let me say that patron requests are very closely looked at. If you have friends that also like Kate, have them request the books. I am *not* advocating stuffing the ballot box, but we all know how good these books are. IF they are on the shelf, people will read them and and wait for the next one. But if they don’t go out enough, subsequent books won’t purchased. Money is tight and getting tighter. Each book has to earn it place.

May I just say, a very cool job. And very wise words, and not only about my books, about any of your favorite author’s books. Library orders are the only reason a lot of authors ever got into hardcover in the first place, and with the incredible shrinking library budget, the book that enough of you ask for at the circulation desk is the one they’re going to order.

This is really true, and worth it.

I am a UK based big WEB Griffin fan, and they are not sold here, so it is either struggle to find US imports, or the Library.
