Until now, Kate Shugak hasn’t spent any time in southwest Alaska, so that was where I chose to set the Liam Campbell novels.
Newenham is loosely based on Dillingham, Alaska, (and yes, residents call it Disneyham). From the size of the area and the equally obvious lack of roads, you can see why Liam has to fly everywhere, whether he wants to or not.
