MARCH 2005 NEWSLETTER
Mike Kelly, aka The Movie Guy, writes "Tell the Danamaniacs
we really appreciate their enthusiasm for the film as well as their
Patience, and we're on track for a winter 2006 shoot date. When we're a
little further along in the process I'll try to keep everyone updated,
perhaps on a message board on your website?" I think the capital "P" in
Patience was deliberate. Definitely a discussion topic on the movie,
click here and then "Movie News" to ask Mike questions, which he may even answer.
As many of you know, I took time off from Kate and Liam to write a
stand-alone novel, a thriller called Blindfold Game, to be pubished in
January 2006. It's about a terrorist attack on the USA by North
Koreans, with the only thing standing in their way the US Coast Guard
cutter Sojourner Truth. Allow me to introduce to you one of my favorite
characters, Arlene Harte.
Go here
to look at the blog and the photos from my trip on board the USCG
cutter Alex Haley, without which I could not have written this novel.
[Photo is of the Alex Haley's bow about to plow through some of those
seas the Bering Sea is famous for.]
I am now writing A Deeper Sleep,
the 15th Kate Shugak novel, to be published in November 2006. A very
wrong Park rat named Jerry Deem is acquitted of murder when everyone in
the Park knows he did it. A few months later the wife of someone you
all know is murdered, and everyone in Park knows he did that, too.
Didn't he? Go here to revisit excerpts and look at the map showing the locations of the first fourteen novels.
And before you ask, yes, I will be writing another Liam Campbell novel.
I've got an idea for a great plot, which involves Wy traveling Outside
to pick up a new airplane in Arizona, only to pick up a charge of
murder instead. No publication date for it, as I have yet to write it,
and, oh yeah, a publisher has yet to buy it. Go here for a list of the previous Liam-Wy novels in order, excerpts, cover art and other stuff.
I never would have written so much about Kate cooking if I'd known how
many of you were going to write asking for recipes. I give up, I've
created a Kate's Cookbook page. The first recipe is for fry bread and the second is for baked steak. Other recipes will be added upon request.
